I forever struggle with trying to define my own personal style. I try to follow the rules with one but then add something completely different to the look. I guess you could say I'm more of an eclectic kind of gal, but one element will forever remain in my interiors and thats my love of all things vintage.
I gave myself a break from flea market shopping these holidays as my home is simply busting at the seams, but I feel the pulling sensation to get back out there and start rummaging again so I know I will cave very soon lol.
I have however decided to de-clutter alot of my "pretty things" and create something a little more industrial. One of my favourite books in my collection is called Found Style by David and Amy Bulter. If you have a passion for all things vintage and recycled but without too much of the the feminine aspect then this book is for you!
Don't get me wrong I'm still a girly girl and regularly read my Austen novels but I just think I'm going to minimalise my "granny items" and go for a more boho feminine chic look this year.
Does this happen to you? Each year do your tastes change and you feel like you want to rip it all out and start fresh? God help me this could become a costly obsession LOL ;)

My tastes change constantly...it's hard to keep up with what I like (accessories come in handy instead of changing big pieces). Those pictures are all beautiful - I would gladly live in any of those rooms!!
I am suffering from the exact same design affliction- as soon as I finish something in one room, I'm ready to change it in another! Actually I'm about to look through my design files for new bedroom colors tonight!
I love the second photo with the green chair by the way. Iron beds look so interesting when painted black.
Good luck with the de-cluttering!
Yes! I'm going throught that right now! Everything in my house is dark. I want white!
Oh i soo know the feeling Anna - i had my house totally shabby chic /vintage, then i decluttered some and went for a more beachy/shabby look and then i look at images like this and want to go back to where i started from and beyond! What we REALLY NEED is a couple of houses lol. Mel xxx
Alice - this is one of my dilema's. I thought I wanted to buy a grand louis style bed for my new room but now I'm leaning towards black or bronzed ornate iron. Oh what to do, what to do?!
Anna ;)
I agree with Mel - we all need a couple of houses. It is so hard when we like so many styles. So hard if you want to be 'true' to one particular style. Think maybe we are all a bit 'eclectic'!!
Alison
Mel - I agree with you wholeheartedly. Now to win the lottery lol
Anna ;)
Thanks Ness :) you inspire me so much!

Alison - touche!

Oh yes, this has just happened to me. I'm stripped bare of ALL worldly possessions... not that there were too many as we were always on the move. Now I am starting from scratch and I am still grasping to define my style and work out where to start! I think I am going down your road with a little less girly appeal... a more 'refined vintage'. A-M xx
I have the same problem! I think we all need more rooms (bigger home) to decorate and more staff to clean it! A girl can dream can't she!?!
I just love the image with the gloves & girdles! So fun and the image where the bed is tucked into the corner with the panels, I think I choose that as my favorite! I loved this post! It's nice to know I'm not alone! :) Best wishes Anna! Beautiful as always!
xoxo

these bedrooms are yummy... love them... Fay
The problem is we all love too many styles, but I agree keeping it simple but still interesting is the way, "Vintage Chic" that's our new word for 2009, so glad your back missed your posts, this year us blogging girls need to catch up x
I love those pics ... and I love the oh-so-human dilemma. If we could all live in castles and have unlimited credit, then we wouldn't have to worry so much! But I think Ness hit the nail on the head ... great interiors reveal something about the human hand behind them!
We are females and that means we are allowed to change our minds! I change things around all the time and often put things away for a while and then bring them back out when my mood flips around again. Changing decor, even in the smallest way, keeps it exciting.
Lovely images Anna, xv.
Welcome back! I think it is fine to refine your style every now and again - it keeps things fresh. I look forward to seeing more of your industrial vintage style in the future!
Hi Anna.
I've missed you! Welcome back.
I battle with my changing style daily!
Poor Steve. It drives him crazy.
My new look is sprinkled with industrial and Swedish, with a little vintage and French thrown in. It's so hard, I love so many things!

The hubs says I need therapy because I am always fiddling with and revamping the house decor. I tell him it is my therapy! When one is visuaaly attuned one redecorates ha ha!
And I'm with you - vintage is always welcome in my house.
Lovely post!

Welcome Back Anna!
I suffer the same issues, my style a few years ago when I went crazy designing everything was more English which I love but am ever torn with my love of vintage and french. My home is far more darker in palette today and more masculine to make my guy more at home but I crave a more feminine look...one day it will come.
Best luck finding just the right bed...Sometimes the hunt is the best part!
I am schizo when it comes to style - clutter vs uncluttered, I just can't decide.
Welcome back! I so missed the beautiful photos you post! Glad to see more of them.

Great thought-provoking post dear Anna. I despaired how all the furniture & accessories from our old Victorian villa would look in this house. But as we started to renovate & drag this 1972 Mission Brown monster into the 00's, it's somehow all gelled. Yes, I had to cull a few pieces, but all in all it works amazingly well.
I'm so looking forward to seeing how you proceed with your new decorating philosophy this year.
Millie ^_^
Gorgeous pics Anna! Great to see you back into it! Love the green chair in the second pic. Have a lovely weekend. Tracey xx
Hallo! I arrived here by chance and like your blog so much. I can perfectly understand you, my tastes change very quickly, but what is constant is love for flea markets. I don't have my own home now, we live in a rented house waiting for our country house to be restored..and in the meantime I HAVE to decorate and change what I have, looking forward to having a new home to make..and maybe to change too often. What a mess!! But I think we're all the same kind of women!

Anna I was going to do a post on all the different themes in our house, I've given up trying to stick to a certain theme, way too confusing and not at all practical for me, quite often when people visit our house they comment on how our house is just like me, not sure whether to take that as a compliment or not, what do they mean messy, aging, vintage, op shoppy???...hmmm?
I think homes that don't follow the same o, same o,are the most interesting.Your home is just lovely and very interesting.Hugs Marie Antionette
so much deliciousness here. I left your blog on my screen for 2 days just so I could keep coming back to look at the images.
Hi Anna! Greetings from Texas~
Lovely, now I want to *change everything* in my house! I love the beautiful images & you are a very, very, very talented writer!
oh i have so many different styles that i love...guess its what freaks me out about the thought of renovating a new home? great images though!!
You always have the most gorgeous photos! I am loving all of these. Just my style! Daisy~
Hi Anna. I love your pictures, so inspirational:)
I love the armoire with the chicken wire. I want something similar to store linen but I don't want something which is TOO fussy - it's actually quite hard to come across.
I'm loving all the rooms !!! very inspiring, thank you for sharing.
