Oh No, I've created a monster...

After a glorious trip to the flea markets this morning with my fellow treasure hunter Brookie, as you can see I've now developed quite a little collection of nautical pieces :) Like I mentioned before I really have no use for these amazing items in my home but I can't help but keep collecting them. I guess I'm building inventory for a future interior design/retail business? ;)

My purchases today included this gorgeous boat print very similar to these displayed in this stunning home in Nantucket. Pics are from House Beautiful via one of my favourite blogs Habitually Chic. Personally I think my boat print would look outstanding in a boys room.

The sweet vintage tins were bought on previous flea market trips but aswell as the boat print today I found this beautiful little ocean painting that was in the ugliest frame so I got rid of that. The lovely seagrass basket I found yesterday on a clearance table at a homewares store. Perfect for summer picnics at the beach or the lake. I know summer is quite a few months away for us Aussie's but when I read Julia's blog everyday I can't help but feel excited about the pending warmth and good times :)

My other purchases for the day included more vintage frames, a white urn and stunning hummingbird tin.

The frame above was perfect for a treasured old sketch of a birdhouse my beloved grandpa made. The last project he built for my mum before he died (miss you everyday Pa). I love how the gold frame really compliments the aged worn paper .

I love the provincial look of this urn. It's not as big and beautiful as yours Gail but it comes close ;)

Look at this amazing tin!^^ The colours are so vibrant and it has just the right amount of chippyness.

With all the rain Sydney has been washed with recently and being sick for over a week it was so nice to get out and about amongst one of my favourite environments again hunting for treasures through everyone elses trash :)

For anyone looking for a beautiful book dedicated to coastal living this book is THE BEST!!! Filled to the max with breathtaking images and ideas you will truly love it as much as I do :)

Gorgeous pictures are via the gorgeous blog Absolutely Beautiful Things .

Not a monster... these are sign... you love the beach! or if you do not live at the beach... you long to live at the beach.
But hey, if you have a collection, you could open an online shop!

Anna, I do love the nautical theme too, I have the most gorgeous large framed print of the ocean that I can bear to part with and yet feel a bit silly displaying it when we live on top of the mountain. Food for thought though, you have got me thinking about it again! Plus the world globes, you started me up on those again too, have a gorgeous old large one in my middle girls bedroom!!

Anna, happy to hear that you are out & about again after fighting off the horrible wog.

I love how you've framed the drawing your Pa did, I did the same for a couple of treasured family letters that were done in the 1920's. I'm sure your children will cherish what you've done, just as my mob of boys do ours.

Hi Anna this is fast becoming my favourite blog- you have such an eye for style! These pictures are lovely and just need the right setting to be really eyecatching! You should show us how its done and do a nautical room, even if its just for photos......

Hi fifi,

I'm a complex person lol. You know what's funny? I actually prefer spending more time on the lake where we have our holiday home rather than the beach and I do have a small fear of the waves. I must say I LOVED swimming at the beach in Greece as the mediterranean waters are so calm.

Although I love the hues of blue and earthy tones used in these ocean paintings, personally for my home I'd prefer paintings with still water.

As far as the online store, they're always a great idea. I used to have a store on Ebay for a couple of years, perhaps I'll do that again.

Millie - thanks so much for your well wishes. Framing my Pa's sketch has started yet another trend with me and I'm looking all over the place for other personal items other than images I can frame lol I love the result so much. I also love the idea of placing letters and personal trinkets into a glass jar or vase. I got that idea from the gorgeous Nate Berkus on an Oprah show once :)

Driftwood Shack - I LOVE your blog. Thanks so much for your kind comment :) I wish I had a spare room in my house I could play with and change styles but unfortunately I don't. Until I gain some clients my husband has 6 weeks off work at the end of august and we plan on repainting the whole interior of our home. The colours my son and I have chosen for his room I could create a nautical room just for some pics. He's actually into planes rather than boats lol. It wont be for a while but it would be fun playing around with different styles. Thanks for the idea!
